Yogi Daisy :) Tea

A comforting beverage. A tonic health that nourishes body and soul.

Just the smell of this tea reminds me of all the good things in life.

In a word “togetherness”.

Those afternoons when me and Sophie  would take the yoga mats out, set the room with the right light, maybe a couple of candles and just be together doing yoga, just being happy and being present.

I’d let the tea simmer on the hob for about 20-30 mins so the aroma would spread in the house and make us happy ♥

But it also reminds me of the time spent in the kitchen together and winter duvet nights 🙂 

A good yogi tea, however, goes beyond taste.

The medicinal ingredients it is made of can help with digestion, joint health and is a good prevention for colds, flu and allergies.

Did you know that ginger is a powerful anti-inflammatory?

Ginger is one of the oldest and most widely used medicinal spices in the world.

This root is known not only for its digestive and anti-inflammatory properties, but it is also used to prevent colds, flu and nausea (if the fresh root flavour is too strong, you can try to use the powder instead of the fresh root).

Ginger contains powerful anti-inflammatory compounds called gingeroli and exerts an analgesic action useful for those who suffer from joint and muscular pain. [Link to study]

Natural antibacterial

This root also has strong antibacterial properties [Link to Study]against metabolic acidosis.

Studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in fighting Escherichia coli, Staphylococcal and Candida albicans infections.

In addition, as noted in the International Journal of Preventive Medicine study titled “Anti-inflammatory Ginger Antioxidant Effects in Health and Physical Activity: An Up-to-Date Review of Evidence”, it is cited:

This is my version of the classic yogi tea, my daughter insisted on calling it “Daisy” like our merry (and very yogi!!) little Beagle ♥



Yogi Daisy Tea



500 ml of water

15 pods of cardamom (split the pods first)

3 mixed spice whole berries

6 nutmeg cloves

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp ginger

1 tea bag

Milk of your choice

Raw honey* to taste

**(because it contains honey it should not be used in children under the age of one)



Pour the water in a pan and add all the ingredients. Turn the heat on, bring to a boil and simmer for about 10 minutes.

Turn the heat off.

Add the tea bag of your choice (my favourite is Rooibos Tea) and let it sit for about 2-3 minutes. Strain and enjoy 🙂
